Book Tour Update #2

I wanted to offer another update on the book tour for Are We All Cyborgs Now? Reclaiming Our Humanity From the Machine (for the first update, see here.)

Carl Trueman and Todd Pruitt did a recent interview with my co-author, Joshua Pauling, looking at the aspects of our research applicable to pastors. Their interview is available on YouTube, and the Mortification of Spin website, and Apple Podcasts, and Spotify.

Mark Bauerlein reviewed the book in his column at First Things, looking aspects relevant to education.

Bryan Wolfmueller recently interviewed Pauling for his channel, as did Jack Roycroft-Sherry.

Pauling finished his 6-part series for Lutheran Witness, which can be read online here.

I’ve been less active, but I was delighted to be joined by our publisher at the recent Paideia conference, where I presented a paper, “The Metaphysics of the Machine and the Quest for Digital Transcendence.”

Meanwhile the book tour continues, with the following events in the pipeline.

Joshua Pauling will be leading a breakout session entitled “Why Bodies Matter for Eternity.” He will explore the theology of the body and how it helps us answer so many of our cultural confusions about the body today, and also connects to the resurrection and glorification of the body.
  • Consortium for Classical Lutheran Education Conference at Concordia University Wisconsin, July 15-18. Joshua Pauling will be leading a breakout session entitled “Recovering the Lost Tools of Living: Incoporating the Common Arts into Education.”
  • Youth Apologetics Conference, Morristown MN, September 13. Joshua Pauling will be leading a series of three sessions for youth entitled “Christ, Man, and Machine” where he will explore tough questions about AI, digital technologies, and how Christianity helps us answer them.
  • Classical Education Symposium, Grand Rapids, MI, October (date TBD). Pauling will be presenting on education and digital technology.
  • OCAMPR in Chicago from October 2-4. I will be part of a panel exploring digital addiction.
  • Touchstone Conference from Sept. 25-27, Chicago. As usual, I will be joined at this annual event by our publisher and will be available for book signing. I am not a speaker at the conference, but don’t let that stop you from coming: our lineup includes Jonathan Pageau, Paul Kingsnorth, Matthew Crawford, Richard Rohlin, Hans Boersma, and many others.
